The Dinner

Each year we have our "Etiquette Dinner" with the young men/ young women. We try to focus each time on different aspects of dating including manners, table etiquite, and communicating with your date (it's sooooo hard for the little Beehives and Deacons to talk to one another :) This year we had "Dinner and a Movie" We had Hawaiian Haystacks and watched the video The River. It's narrated by a talk given by President Hunter on sexual purity. Afterward Bishop Linford led a discussion with the youth answering any questions they had. I admire the way he approached the topic... I think they feel very comfortable talking candidly with him because they know he'll answer questions without judgment and with honesty and insight.

For our table settings we had each class and quorum decorate a table with an inexpensive date idea. We had a lot of fun with this! It was great to see what all the other classes chose as well. My Beehive class decorated the one above for a campfire and marshmallow roast! Dinner date in the back of a truck ~*~ Picnic

Paintballing ~*~ Beach party (on Antelope Island I suppose... it's the closest beach we've got :)
Game Night ~*~ Star Wars Marathon (this was the Bishopric's table surprise surprise)

In years past we've been able to assign "Blind-Dates" so that each boyhad a girl that they could practice talking to, practice pulling out their chair etc... This year the girls outnumbered the boys a bit... so we made sure we had at least two boys at each table.
