1st Stop - Goblin Valley

They definitely had a band of followers looking out for them.
The weather was a little unpredictable. One minute the sun is shining the next we have a hailstorm. It seems it was pretty cooperative for us most the time... raining while we're driving then halting when we needed to be outside.
Running to the bowery during the hail ;0)
Uncle's bobbing the truck for a few laughs.
2nd Stop - Stan's Burger Shak
So, this has become a tradition people. I can imagine them double scheduling in anticipation of our crew each Easter weekend. This little place is in Hanksville, Utah and we've been stopping here for a malt for as long as I can remember. We panicked one year when the old building it use to occupy was vacant but were relieved to find it attached to a gas station just down the road.

3rd Stop
3rd Stop
Grandpa's old home in Hanksville

Each year it becomes a little more run-down. I suspect that soon in the future we'll come here only to find a pile of old wood. One of the best things about it is that inside you can still see the strips of denim that my great-grandmother used to seal the cracks in the walls to keep out the breeze. My grandpa's family only lived here for a couple of years while my great-grandpa herded sheep there in Hanksville, but he talked about it often. It must have been a place full of memories for them.

4th Stop - The Sand Dune
Each year we get a brand new sand bucket and shovel from De for this very stop. We bring along kites and someone always ends up buried. The boys had a blast and the sand was great for packing because the rain had made the top layer the perfect consistency.

They didn't want to leave...Grandpa helped ease the pain of climbing back into the car seats!

EXHAUSTED! You can't believe how much red sand I found in Payton's diaper that night!
